Research Highlights
USTB MatCom consists of 40 double-channel computing nodes connected by high-speed network, 2 eight-channel fat nodes and 2 GPU servers. It is a professional computing platform for materials research. Since its trial operation in November 2019, the platform has completed more than 14,000 computing tasks, with an average daily CPU utilization of 87% and nearly 9 million core hours of operator time. During the epidemic prevention and control in the first half of this year, USTB MatCom continued to operate stably, providing an important online scientific guarantee for teachers and students to carry out research on high-performance materials computing.
USTB MatCom has provided support for many national key RESEARCH and development programs and national Natural Science Foundation of China. With the aid of north branch computing platform, the center in first principles calculations, molecular dynamics simulation, material thermodynamics calculation and phase field simulation, finite element simulation, the material microscopic image analysis, big data deep learning and prediction has gained rich research achievements, the Materials Today, the Advanced Materials, Journal of the American Chemical Society, Journal of metal Materials such as high level journals published more than 30 papers, Obtained from the oak ridge national laboratory, Lawrence Berkeley national laboratory and sandia national laboratories, the university of California, Berkeley, Penn state university, university of alberta, Canada, Germany Berlin's free university, Finland aalto university, famous scholar and a number of units in the Russian academy of sciences of the positive comments and reference, further enhance the international influence of the center, also as the center in the future international cooperation in the field of material simulation calculation laid a foundation.
